We are disrupting the status quo.
Richmond Cycling Corps is changing the lives of youth who live in Richmond's public housing projects through cycling, education, and ongoing mentorship. While cycling is the main vehicle for programming, at the heart, our organization is serving disadvantaged youth who live in public housing, by showing up day after day, because we “Can’t stop, won’t stop.”
RCC reaches beyond the bicycle and is dedicated to building lasting relationships with our youth, advocating for their continued growth, and connecting them to resources that help them succeed. We do this work through several program divisions.
- Cycling: racing, long distance, casual
- Academic support
- The Kickstand: workforce development
- Outreach
- Alumni relations
In an average month, RCC provides well over 1,100 touch points in the communities where we focus our work.
-26 practices or rides
-110 different youth riders
-480 hours of cycling time
-mileage may vary based on seasonal weather, but youth ride an average of 900 miles
Our practices vary, based on weather and cycling discipline, but typically include:
-6-8 youth
-2 hours of ride time
-10 miles traveled
Your donations allow us to make a huge impact in our youths' lives!
$25 buys a team member snacks for one week of rides.
$50 buys a new helmet for a rider
$100 fills the gas tank of the van, which hits empty once a week
$500 sponsors a rider for the VAHS or NICA race season
RCC is always looking for people that are willing to volunteer and help support our mission. Whether that is riding with us, helping upgrade our facilities, or providing necessary snacks, we welcome your contributions.
